Obituary of David Mims

David Mims made his peaceful transition to be with the Lord on June 11, 2020. "Pops" as his youngest Great Grand kids called him, was born on August 11, 1934 in James, Georgia to Ebb Mims and Mattie Lee Wolfork. Following graduation, he joined the US Army and spent his working years serving his country where he achieved the rank of Sergeant Major. In 1978, while still in the service, he earned his Associates of Arts in Organizational Behavior from Park College, Fort Bliss before retiring in 1989. After retiring from the Army, David went on to work at the post office where He worked as a mail handler. He was an active member of the DAV, the R.A.T.S. And several other organizations. His passion was helping to match fellow vets with benefits they were not aware they were entitled to, and he enjoyed jazz, fishing and barbecuing. He will truly be missed and cherished by his wife, Martha Mims, son Ronald Mims, step-daughters Brenda Austin and Katreka Goins - Williams, his step-son Henry Goins Jr., his 8 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and a whole host of cousins, other relatives and Friends.
