LaSondra A. Slaughter, 78, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 13, 2021, at home surrounded by many loving family members. She was born to Henry Cleveland and Frances (Allen) Cleveland on December 4, 1943, in Winter Park, FL. She met and married Willie Slaughter in 1962, which ended in divorce.
After completing adult education at Lakeview High School, in 1971, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse.LaSondra also worked at Post Foods for 20 years. After retiring, she helped rear her grandchildren, was active in Maranatha Original Church of God on the hospitality committee, was passionate about the outdoors, and was an avid fisherwoman. Fishing year-round and profiting from her catch. LaSondra has always been entrepreneurial and was popular in various social circles. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Mind Jammers Social Club.
She has always had a heart for people and loved her family. She made all of her grandkids and some great-grandkids newborn birthday blankets with her passion for crocheting. LaSondra loved attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren sporting events and waiving her noisemakers. She was supportive of all of their dreams and achievements. She moved back to Florida in 2004 to care for relatives and remained there until March 2020.
She was a football enthusiast and loved rooting for the University of Michigan. In addition, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, doing crafts, playing Candy Crush, and watching NCIS and Christmas movies.
LaSondra is survived by her children, Donna Cleveland of Austin, TX; Angela Cleveland of Battle Creek, MI; Frances Slaughter of Milwaukee, WI; Allen Slaughter of St. Louis, MO; and Shannan (Larry) Rabbit, Comstock, MI. Her siblings, Brenda Long of Orlando, FL; Kathy Simmons of Orlando, FL, Henry Cleveland, Jr. of Newport, VA; Melton (Shelly) McKinney of Orlando, FL; and Carl McKinney of Atlanta, GA. Her 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother Frances (Allen Cleveland) Kendrick, father Henry Cleveland, Sr., stepfather Arthur Kendrick, and stepmother Julia Cleveland. Her brother, Stanley Kendrick, and sisters Mona Armstrong and Mercedes Bailey.
