Obituary of Ernestine Herring

Ernestine Herring departed this life on Monday, July 2, 2018.  She was born on Thursday, September 9, 1943 to Bessie Langon and Issac Cotton.  Ernestine was raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi by her mother Bessie and stepfather Jessie Langon.   She left Mississippi and moved to Chicago, IL and it was there that she meet and married the love of her life Speedy Herring.  While living in Chicago Ernestine found employment at the chocolate factory. After residing in Chicago, IL Ernestine and Speedy decided they wanted a change, and moved to Three Rivers, Michigan in 1976 where she began working as an assistant in the head start program with the Three Rivers Public School System, and the Pioneer HI-Bred in Constantine, Michigan.  While leaving in Three Rivers, MI she became a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Ernestine became a homemaker after the passing of her husband Speedy, devoting her time to raising her family.  She was a strong person even in the face of illness.  Ernestine fought a battle against cancer, as well as receiving various treatments of Dialysis through the years.  She fought the good fight and she finished her course. Ernestine was a loving and caring person, she enjoyed fishing, playing cards(sevens), going to the casino.  She also loved watching Hallmark and Westerns movies, Cooking shows, and just relaxing and listening to the Blues. She leave behind to forever cherish her memory her children: Lavern Galloway, Valerie Rhodes, Ronnie (Bethnany) all of Three Rivers, MI., Donald (Karla) Rhodes, Lee Anthony Rhodes both of Elkhart, IN., and Renea Rhodes of Bristol, IN; her sister Charlene Jones of Kankakee, IL.; brothers: Lee (Doris) Landon, Sr. of Chicago, IL., Charles (Sharon) Langon, Jacqueline (Larry) Chambers all of Kankakee, IL., and Eric Langon of Coldwater, MI; 31 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great-great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives and friends.  Although Ernestine has departed from this life, she will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
